Why you should start reading

Enter the zone.

Why should we read in an age of digitalization? It takes more effort to sit and read a book than watching a video and it is way more uncomfortable. Well, looks aren’t that flashy or comfortable as videos are, but you forget, that it’s not their purpose to be flashy. In the first place, books deliver information. That is such a powerful thing to do. Why’s that you ask? Imagine you could have 100% of the knowledge and experiences of all your ancestors-the avatar mode. Wouldn’t it be fascinating to possess all the information generations ahead of you had? You would be at least 100 times more wiser and experienced. And that is what books can deliver.

We are the main characters of our lives and only see life from our point of view, but books enable us another perspective. We are able to see the world from other directions. You can experience thoughts (and feelings), that you didn’t experience. There is a saying that says:

A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies, said Jojen. The man who never reads lives only one.

― George R.R. Martin, A Dance with Dragons

I hope you all understood the benefit of reading. Now you should understand what benefit you have in reading daily. Imagine you read daily. You read 30 pages every day. After reading a week you’ve read 210 pages in just one week, that’s a small book. After a month you have 840 pages. And that knowledge you got in those 840 pages is something that the majority of the people read in 2 years. That gives you a headstart in being just not lazy. You don’t have to be smart or talented but just dedicated. Broaden your general knowledge and become a more knowledgeable person with a variety of interests in every category.

In conclusion: Start reading from today every day. Wheter you read a constant amount of pages or a certain amount of time is your decision. But the important thing is that you read. It is not important to read 100 pages on the first day and 2 in the second day. It is better to start slowly, but staying consistent. Our goal is to focus on the longterm. So all thats left to say is: Start reading!
